BOGOTÁ: Colombian singer Shakira has set a new world record of social media popularity after reaching the milestone of 100 million facebook fans.
Shakira gained this record to her credit after posting a photo of
herself in the Maracanã Stadium in Rio, Brazil last Sunday, prior to her
performance during the closing ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.Guinness World Records confirmed today that Shakira has taken another height of popularity on facebook by having 100 million fans.
The image collected over 3.5 million likes in just four days, becoming the star’s most liked Facebook post to date and made popstar the first person to reach this benchmark.
Recently, Shakira, wife of Spanish footballer Gerard Pique, completed her hat-trick of performing in FIFA World Cup ceremonies of 2006, 2010, and 2014.
