KARACHI: Senior members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday said authentic sources have disclosed that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan may soon announce to call off their protest sit-down scheduled for August 14 in Islamabad.
“If the report has substance, this will prove to be a welcome news for the country,” said MQM senior leaders Tariq Javed, Qasim Ali Raza, and Mustafa Azizabadi while addressing a press conference here.
They urged all the political parties to avoid staging sit-ins or protests, keeping in view the critical phase through which the country was currently passing.
The appeal comes from MQM at a time when PTI is all set to hold its protest long march in Islamabad on August 14.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from Jeddah said revolution would now only come through elections in the country. “Thousands cannot hijack the mandate of millions,” he added.
