Top 5 Hair Damaging Mistakes

If you’re suffering from hair fallsplit ends and frizzy hair…you may be surprised that your hair care choices might be the cause of your damaged hair. Lack of proper hair care can unknowingly cause your hair to become weak. There are many ways that we can end up damaging our hair- either we choose to use heated styling tools in a rush or not protecting your hair against the sun. Why not prevent any damaging from occurring at the start?
With so many products in the market to help “fix” hair problems and issues- getting to the root cause of your hair woes can lead to soft and shiny hair. If you find yourself doing any of these 5 common hair mistakes- take a step back to analyze your hair. Severely damaged hair requires intensive treatments.

Harshly Combing Tangles

Roughly combing your hair can break hair strands that can damage the root. If you’re hair is tangled up pretty badly- use a wide tooth comb and start brushing from the ends of your hair to work your way up. Never brush the hair starting from the top.Gently comb from the bottom to loosen the knots to prevent it from breaking. Use a leave-in conditioner after your shower to prevent tangles after your hair is dried.

Skipping Heat Protectant

Each time you use heated styling tools- preparing the hair with a heat-protective spray or serum can coat the hair strands to prevent it from damaging. These sprays and serums help to maintain the hair shafts natural moisture and to prevent it from breaking. Since heated tool exposes the hair to direct heat it’s important to coat your hair before you begin. Not doing so can cause split ends and breakage.

Straight Ironing Wet Hair

The biggest mistake you can make is straightening wet hair. When the hair is wet, it is 100 times more delicate and can easily be damaged. A flat iron can literally fry your wet hair. If you’re in a rush, skip out on using a flat iron and straightening your hair with a blow dryer and large rounded brush. The blow dryer can help achieve similar results without causing hair damage.

Tying Up Wet Hair

When we are in a rush, it’s easy to just tie up your hair in a pony or a bun when its wet. While it’s a good idea to air dry your hair, tying it up when it’s wet can not only cause hair breakage but can lead to headaches. Tugging and pulling on hair when its wet can easily break from the root. Instead go for a braid or a loose clip
to pull back your hair.

Washing Fresh Hair Color

Majority of women have color treated their hair in some form. To keep your hair color fresh and longer, use a specially formulated color treated shampooand conditioner since these contain less foaming ingredients which leads to fading hair color. Do not shampoo your hair immediately after hair color, waiting 24 to 48 hours
to keep the hair color looking vibrant and fresh.
